Our story
This started out for us long before we ever dreamed of Southwest Camper Co.
As teenagers we spent most weekends sleeping in cars and rusty cramped vans, chasing surf trips and days in the mountains. Here we learned a lot of what doesn't work, and even a little bit of what does.
Life led us down the path of more conventional careers, where between us we amassed over 15 years of engineering experience. In this way we learned how to design, build, and fix complex systems.
It was only years later when we decided to convert a couple of vans for a trip around europe, that we realised this had been our calling all along. A few short months later we had both quit our jobs and left our homes in exchange for full time vanlife.
And now it's come full circle. We still face the same problems, only now we have the skills to overcome them properly.

Tyler
Co Founder & Technical Lead
Tyler brings a decade of experience in electrical installation, mechanics, and metal fabrication. He ensures every build is technically sound, from electrics and heaters to structural modifications
Barney
Co Founder & Lead Designer
With an engineering background and a passion for creative problem-solving, Barney focuses on the design and carpentry side of our vans. From layouts to bespoke joinery, he brings ideas to life with a practical, hands-on approach.
Dora
Workshop Manager
With a degree in being the goodest girl, she keeps us all in check.
